Special Education Case Manager/Teacher

Valley Academy of Learning

1.0 FTE, Continuing Contract

*Beginning the 2024-2025 School Year*

 

DESCRIPTION: Management of student IEPs and educational plan, IEP paperwork, Attend and/or facilitate meetings (IEP, Eval), systems in place for goal progress monitoring, classroom support for implementation of IEP. Collaboration with other case managers, inclusion specialists, classroom teachers, and other staff to support student IEPs. Develop and implement behavior support plans. Collaboration with staff to provide supportive inclusive opportunities. Provide small group instruction for students needing to access that area of the continuum and continuous progress monitoring to maximize student learning.Attend building and district meetings and conferences as required.  Other related duties. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:  Valid Washington state teaching certificate with a Special Education endorsement. Experience with writing and following the IEP and helping general education staff design and implement differentiated programming in core content areas. Must be able to work as part of a team and supervise placement of special education classified staff working to support the program. Knowledge of Special Education rules (state and federal). Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, a positive attitude, and proven ability for organization and meeting timelines.  This job may require prolonged sitting or standing. Attendance and punctuality are key functions for this position.

In addition, a background check, based on fingerprints, will be requested from the Washington State Patrol & FBI.  Employment is conditional based upon completion of the record check.
