AVID Tutors (Up to 30 positions available)

Foothills-Orchard-Pioneer Middle Schools and Wenatchee High School

Varied Hours:  1-6 hours per day/afternoons – 17-18 school year

Salary Schedule:  $11.50 per hour 

                                                                                                                                   

 

DESCRIPTION:  Following the AVID model of tutoring, work with small groups of 7-12 grade students to guide them toward solving problems they bring to the tutorial sessions. Help students use class notes, class texts, and class handouts to solve problems. Determine from tutorial sessions the concepts that need to be reviewed. Work with students on any phase of the writing process. Evaluate student binders including notes, assignment sheets, and calendars. All positions have varied hours – up to 20 hours per week. Other duties as assigned.

                                                                       

QUALIFICATIONS:  High school graduate or currently enrolled in Running Start. Current college students preferred. Strong Math and English skills required. Strong academic and human relation skills. Must be able to work with high school students. May require prolonged sitting or standing.

Disclosure Statement and Record Check:  Pursuant to Chapter 486, Washington Laws of 1987, the recommended applicant, if not a current regular employee, will be required to complete a disclosure form indicating whether he or she has been convicted of crimes against persons listed in the law. In addition, a background check, based on fingerprints, will be requested from the Washington State Patrol & FBI.  Employment is conditional based upon completion of the record check.
