Para-Educator

Lewis & Clark Elementary

2.0 hours per day/191 days per year

Salary:  $12.57 - $14.80 per hour

DESCRIPTION:  This position helps supervise students at recess, provides support in the cafeteria, and provides instructional and clerical support to teachers and student supervision as needed. This position requires extended periods of time in hot and cold weather. Other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:  Minimum AA degree or equivalent (72 college credits) or a passed PRAXIS test required. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred. Good communication skills and a calm personality. Ability to relate well to students, parents, and staff. Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time. Patient, flexible, self-motivated, positive social skills and a calm personality. Wear appropriate clothing for climate and weather during recess. May require prolonged sitting or standing. Attendance and punctuality are important functions of the position.

Disclosure Statement and Record Check:  Pursuant to Chapter 486, Washington Laws of 1987, the recommended applicant, if not a current regular employee, will be required to complete a disclosure form indicating whether he or she has been convicted of crimes against persons listed in the law. In addition, a background check, based on fingerprints, will be requested from the Washington State Patrol & FBI.  Employment is conditional based upon completion of the record check.
