POSITION #323-CLS-09/17:  

Special Education Para-Educator

Special Education

6.0 hours per day/191 days per year

Salary:  $13.73 - $16.06 per hour

                                                          

DESCRIPTION:  Assist the Special Education Instructor in creating a positive learning environment to facilitate the personal, social and intellectual development of students. Provide educational services to students in the special education program. This position may require one-on-one or resource room.  Other related duties as assigned. *Building location subject to change based on student support needs.

                                  

QUALIFICATIONS:  Minimum AA degree or equivalent (72 college credits) or passed PRAXIS test required. Ability to make good decisions. Patient, flexible, self-motivated, good communication, teamwork, academic skills and positive social skills and a sense of humor. Ability to relate well to students, parents and staff.  May require lifting, prolonged sitting or standing.  Attendance and punctuality are important functions of this position. 

 

SCHEDULE:  OPEN UNTIL FILLED.

Immigration Reform and Control Act Requirement:  The recommended applicant, if not a current regular employee, will be required to complete an INS I-9 form and must provide proof of employment eligibility prior to working.

 

Disclosure Statement and Record Check:  Pursuant to Chapter 486, Washington Laws of 1987, the recommended applicant, if not a current regular employee, will be required to complete a disclosure form indicating whether he or she has been convicted of crimes against persons listed in the law. In addition, a background check, based on fingerprints, will be requested from the Washington State Patrol & FBI.  Employment is conditional based upon completion of the record check.
