POSITION #434-ADM-11-22:

Lewis and Clark Elementary School Principal 

260 Days Per Year (includes 25 vacation days and 14 paid holidays)

Annual Salary:  $134,959 - $152,166

DESCRIPTION: Provide the necessary leadership to create and maintain conditions for a high level of instructional efficacy. Work within policies of the district and the guidelines of the Superintendent. The principal is the administrator and supervisor of the school and has full responsibility and authority for the control and management of the school in all its operations. Responsibilities include supervision of approximately 60 staff members serving approximately 400 students. As a Title 1 Schoolwide program serving a high poverty area, Lewis & Clark Elementary strives to enrich the education program and ensure that all students in K-5 achieve academic success. Lewis & Clark is a dual language school. Students learn in a 50/50 “dual language” program of English/Spanish. The staff is looking for someone who will continue our DLE program and be able to provide continued leadership.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Possess a principal’s credential, valid in the state of Washington. Elementary administrative experience is highly preferred. Bilingual/Biliterate English/Spanish required. Must have experience working with/in a dual language school model. Ability to work in a collaborative environment that promotes trust, shared commitments, shared goals, and continuous improvement. Visionary, culturally-responsive leadership skills that include moving systems forward, supporting stakeholders, and expecting high success for scholars. Commitment to inclusion of diverse learners. Ability to improve learning and teaching through an effective staff supervision coaching model. High commitment to implementing district learning and teaching initiatives. Strong instructional leadership that includes a deep understanding of reading science, classroom literacy and math pedagogy, systems of support, Social Emotional Learning (SEL), Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS), data analysis aligned with human resource and instructional support, professional learning, and coaching conversations. Proven organizational planning and continuous communication skills that facilitate positive school culture, predictability of routines and procedures, fiscal responsibility, and community partnerships. Ability to facilitate group collaboration, adult learning, strategic planning, and consensus building. Demonstrate flexibility, resourcefulness, and a respect for others. Proven ability to be a productive member of the district’s leadership team. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the District may find appropriate and acceptable.

SCHEDULE: OPEN UNTIL FILLED.

 

CONTRACT PROVISIONS: The successful candidate will be offered a continuing contract in accordance with the district-established Principals/Directors salary schedule.

Other benefits include $3,000 annually for professional growth and development, a transportation allowance of $100-$150/month, and a cell phone stipend of $150/month.

 

Immigration Reform and Control Act Requirement:  The recommended applicant, if not a current regular employee, will be required to complete an INS I-9 form and must provide proof of employment eligibility prior to working.

 

Disclosure Statement and Record Check:  Pursuant to Chapter 486, Washington Laws of 1987, the recommended applicant, if not a current regular employee, will be required to complete a disclosure form indicating whether he or she has been convicted of crimes against persons listed in the law. In addition, a background check, based on fingerprints, will be requested from the Washington State Patrol & FBI.  Employment is conditional based upon completion of the record check.
