Special Education Teacher 

Wenatchee High School

1.0 FTE, Continuing Contract

*Beginning the 2024-2025 School Year*

 

DESCRIPTION:  Work as a member of the IEP team for resource students in grades 9-12 at Wenatchee High School. Responsible for the IEPs for students on the caseload; academic assessment; progress reports; communicating with parents about student progress and working with the general education teachers to support work on accommodations and modifications for student success.  Participate in appropriate activities.  Support programs and district in-service educational programs.  Attend IEP, building and district meetings and conferences as required.  Other related duties. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:  Valid Washington state teaching certificate with a Special Education endorsement. Experience with writing and following the IEP and helping general education staff to design and implement differentiated programming in the core content areas. Must be able to work as part of a team and supervise the placement of special education classified staff that support the program. Knowledge of Special Education rules (state and federal). Must have excellent communication skills both verbal and written, positive attitude and proven ability for organization and meeting timelines. May require prolonged sitting or standing. Attendance and punctuality are important functions for this position. 

 

SCHEDULE: OPEN UNTIL FILLED.

Immigration Reform and Control Act Requirement:  The recommended applicant, if not a current regular employee, will be required to complete an INS I-9 form and must provide proof of employment eligibility prior to working.

 

Disclosure Statement and Record Check:  Pursuant to Chapter 486, Washington Laws of 1987, the recommended applicant, if not a current regular employee, will be required to complete a disclosure form indicating whether he or she has been convicted of crimes against persons listed in the law. In addition, a background check, based on fingerprints, will be requested from the Washington State Patrol & FBI.  Employment is conditional based upon completion of the record check.
