Laundry/ Utility Custodian

Transportation

5.5 hours total per day / 260 days per year (5:30 pm – 11:00 pm)

3.5 hours per day Laundry $17.53 - $19.63 per hour

2.0 hours per day Utility Custodian $21.46 - $23.56 per hour

 

DESCRIPTION:  Laundry: Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Maintenance & Operations to serve the laundry needs of athletics, PE, custodial, and transportation mechanics. Pickup dirty and deliver clean laundry from and to appropriate locations throughout the district.  Coordinate with district warehouse delivery for laundering of elementary custodial rags. Properly and safely operate district washer and dryer to wash and dry towels, uniforms, dust mops, and other items as directed. Perform minor maintenance on laundry equipment. Maintain ready supply of laundered items at designated locations through scheduled laundry pickup and delivery. Track towel usage loss by location and report year-end findings to individual departments.  Notify principals and department heads when new towels need to be purchased to renew inventory. Daily clean dryer lint filters. Work with chemical supplier and assistant director to keep laundry and sanitizing chemical inventory at appropriate levels. Keep laundry room in a clean and organized manner, periodically cleaning tops of equipment, sweeping and mopping floor, and other necessary cleaning tasks. Keep laundry truck in a clean and organized manner. Report maintenance needs of laundry equipment and truck to appropriate personnel to keep operating in top condition. During summer months, and at all other times when primary duties are not required, report to the Assistant Director of Maintenance and Operations for daily assignment.  Shift start time may vary. Other duties as assigned.  Utility Custodian:  Promote a clean, safe, and productive learning and teaching environment.  Perform a competent level of general custodial services in keeping assigned building areas clean and orderly.  Keep building and premises, including sidewalks and driveways, neat and clean at all times.  Set up and/or remove furniture and equipment as required for various school and community events and activities as directed. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:  Follows policies and procedures. High school diploma or equivalent required. Commercial Laundry/Custodial experience preferred. To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of desktop and web-based email software. Possession of valid Washington State driver's license.  Driving abstract must not contain disqualifying conditions 2, 3, 7, or 8 as laid out in WAC 392-144-103 and as these pertain to a regular driver's license. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus. While performing the essential functions of this job. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; and outside weather conditions year round.
