Mariachi Para-Educator

Wenatchee High School/Pioneer Middle School

20 hrs per week / 191 days per year

Salary:  $19.50 - $21.89 per hour

                                                          

DESCRIPTION: Under the direction of the building administrator and/or the classroom teacher performs a variety of tasks related to the instructional program to enhance learning experiences in one-on-one, small group or classroom setting. Provides instructional and clerical support and student supervision as needed. 

 

Assist in Mariachi classes, mariachi rehearsals and attend all performances. Assist instructor as requested. Other related duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:  Minimum AA degree or equivalent or passed PRAXIS test required. Musical ability. Available to attend evening and weekend performances. Bilingual/biliterate English/Spanish is preferred. Working knowledge of iPads, PCs and Chromebooks preferred. Good communication skills and ability to follow written and oral directions.  Patient, flexible, self-motivated, positive social skills and a calm personality.  Ability to relate well to elementary school students, parents and staff.  May require prolonged sitting or standing.  Attendance and punctuality are required functions of this position.

180 - 219 Day Employees - Paid leave benefits include 10 days of sick leave, 2 personal leave days and 11 holidays.

220 - 259 Day Employees - Paid leave benefits include 10 days of sick leave, 3 personal leave days and 11 holidays.

260 Day Employees - Paid leave benefits include 12 days of sick leave, 2 personal leave days, 14 holidays and 12 vacation days.

Tuition reimbursement, 50% up to $450 per year for qualified expenses.

Immigration Reform and Control Act Requirement:  The recommended applicant, if not a current regular employee, will be required to complete an INS I-9 form and must provide proof of employment eligibility prior to working.

 

Disclosure Statement and Record Check:  Pursuant to Chapter 486, Washington Laws of 1987, the recommended applicant, if not a current regular employee, will be required to complete a disclosure form indicating whether he or she has been convicted of crimes against persons listed in the law. In addition, a background check, based on fingerprints, will be requested from the Washington State Patrol & FBI.  Employment is conditional based upon completion of the record check.
