Special Education Inclusion Specialist

Newbery Elementary

1.0 FTE, Continuing Contract

 

DESCRIPTION: Support the implementation of student IEPs and access to core instruction. Inclusion specialists may work with students in an  individual or small groups capacity per IEP.  Support grade-level instruction access, provide modified materials as needed, and support IEP with lesson design through accommodations and modifications. Review and collaborate on lesson plans for the access of students with disabilities, develop and support lesson accommodations and modifications to support the implementation of student IEPs and learning goals, create alternative materials for student access points as needed per IEP needs, active member of grade-level PLCs to support student access to grade-level instruction, support the development and implementation of BIP, collaborate with fellow inclusion specialists for material and lesson development, collaboration with grade level teachers and teams, member of the IEP team (as needed), management and facilitation of paraeducators. Attend building and district meetings and conferences as required.  Other related duties. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS: Valid Washington state teaching certificate. Special education endorsement preferred. Experience with following the IEP and helping general education staff design and implement differentiated programming in core content areas. Must be able to work as part of a team and supervise placement of special education classified staff working to support the program. Knowledge of Special Education rules (state and federal). Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, a positive attitude, and proven ability for organization and meeting timelines. This job may require prolonged sitting or standing. Attendance and punctuality are key functions for this position.

In addition, a background check, based on fingerprints, will be requested from the Washington State Patrol & FBI.  Employment is conditional based upon completion of the record check.
